Sorry.

I have been behind on the blogs as it is very easy to forget about them and/or ignore the fact that I must complete them. Anyway I am back in action on the blogger account and I will try very hard to keep up with all the blogs from now on. As of right now I am all caught up with my blogs....Yeaaaah!

(I hope my Voki works...I spent a good 30 minutes making him.)

I look out my window and I notice how the trees are beginning to change colors and lose their leaves. I think about how I myself am beginning to change as well. I am losing old traits and my personality begins to change. I am not becoming an entirely new person just like how the trees do not disappear but small changes are being made to both of us. I stay Dean, the same person, but I also begin to grow and mature. The trees keep their trunks and branches but begin to change colors and lose their leaves as well. The trees are preparing for winter as I prepare for adulthood.

Political Climate of the 1950s

My Source.

During the McCarthy Hearings Joseph McCarthy questioned people's loyalty to the country without hesitation. He spoke out against many people including members of the armies and celebrities in Hollywood. He was determined to find things that he claimed he knew were there and never found them. He accused many of being communists and harshly attacked their loyalty and character. For his ruthless and often unnecessary attacks of the character of many his approval ratings began to drop. His televised hearings only proved to further people's dislike for him.

Crucible Reflection- Act 1.

Throughout reading Act 1 of the Crucible I really began to understand the message that Arthur Miller was trying to get across due to the McCarthy hearings. When you read The Crucible you cannot help but think how crazy not only Abigail is but how crazy the court system is as well. It seems ridiculous that these judges would not only believe Abigail's accusations but set out to persecute people because of them as well. It seems crazy as well that McCarthy was going on his "witch hunts" and persecuting celebrities and people thought to be communists. Arthur Miller does a great job painting pictures in your head to help you better understand the story and the situation. The way he talks about Abigail drinking chicken blood and how Tituba is thought to be a witch because she is from Africa only serve to add to the details shown in Act 1.
